Guidewire Resource Portal


Background

Guidewire Software is a software publisher based in Foster City, California. It offers core back-end software for property and casualty (P&C) insurance carriers in the U.S. and worldwide, as well as the Guidewire Live suite of online analytics services for P&C insurers.

Goals

Guidewire Resource Portal or GRP is Guidewire's ticketing system for its customers. The primary goal for the project was to enhance the user experience of their ticketing portal by optimizing functional and visual components.

My Role

Content management, UI/UX improvement, usability evaluation and testing.
Collaboration and ideation with development, marketing and support team.

Visual and Functional Improvements

One of the major issues with the portal was its outdated and clustered layout which caused severe delays for customers to access information and retrieve documents quickly. We regenerated some of its information architecture and updated some visual components. The following is one such example which shows the documentation page listed all previous documentation links of the claim center, policy center and the billing center.

Rebranding

Guidewire underwent corporate rebranding. One of the project goals was to redesign and edit the new product area icons to match with the new brand. I was also responsible for designing and developing the new portal header.

Video Streaming Portal

Our team with the help of Vidizmo video streaming solutions hosted a video portal within the resource portal. I was involved in implementing and deploying the video portal into GRP. The work involved media management tasks like editing, publishing and tagging videos under their specific categories, assigning access rights, standardizing aspect ratio and video formats.

Cross browser testing, technical documentation and content generation

Another task I accomplished was testing the portal and building cross browser test cases. I reported UI inconsistencies in the home page and fixed them with the help of dev teams. I created technical documents including how-to tutorials, site maps and read-me files. Using Camtasia studio, I recorded and published promotional and ‘how-we-work’ videos.
